SiRT Investigating Collision Resulting in Serious Injuries

The Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) is investigating the circumstances surrounding a collision in Pictou, Nova Scotia.

Preliminary information suggests the following:

  • In the afternoon of March 30, 2024, the RCMP attempted to make a traffic stop.
  • The female driver of the vehicle fled and collided with another vehicle.
  • The driver of the impacted vehicle was transported to hospital by EHS and was diagnosed with serious injuries.

As a result of the serious injuries, in accordance with the Police Act, the RCMP contacted the SiRT who have assumed responsibility for the investigation.

The SiRT is responsible for investigating all matters that involve death, serious injury, sexual assault and intimate partner violence or other matters of public interest that may have arisen from the actions of any police officer in Nova Scotia or New Brunswick. Investigations are under the direction and control of an independent civilian director, who has the sole authority to determine if charges should be laid at the conclusion of an investigation.
