Halifax Regional Police Officer Charged with Sexual Assault
The province’s Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) released its report today regarding an allegation of sexual assault made against a male officer of the Halifax Regional Police. No media release was issued at the time of the complaint to protect the integrity of the investigation.
In early December 2021, SiRT was contacted by the Halifax Regional Police after a female complainant alleged she had been sexually assaulted by the officer in the summer of 2020.
After investigating the matter, a charge of sexual assault was laid against Cst. Steven Mason, a 37-year-old member of the Halifax Regional Police. He will appear in Halifax Provincial Court today, February 15th at 10:00 a.m.

SIRT is responsible for investigating all serious incidents involving police in Nova Scotia. Investigations are under the direction and control of independent civilian director Felix Cacchione, who is solely responsible for decisions respecting the laying of any charge.
