No Charges Against RCMP Officer Relating to Arrest of Windsor Man

Nov
22

The province's independent Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) released a report today regarding the investigation into the arrest of a Windsor area man.

On the early morning of August 5, 2022, Windsor RCMP responded to a break and enter call at the Windsor Public Library. Two officers entered the library and found a suspect in the building. During the arrest, a struggle ensued, resulting in one of the officers striking the man. Both the suspect and one of the RCMP officers received treatment for their injuries.

The SiRT investigation found the use of force exercised by the officer was reasonable and justified in the circumstances. Therefore, there are no grounds to consider any charges against the officer.
