RCMP Member Charged with Assault

The province’s Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) released its report today regarding an allegation of assault made against a member of the RCMP.

In early February 2022, SiRT was contacted by the RCMP after receiving a complaint of an alleged assault that had occurred on January 26, 2022.

After investigating the matter, two charges of assault were laid against Cst. Aaron Brown, a 41-year-old member of the RCMP. He will appear in Sydney Provincial Court on May 17, 2022, at 9:30 a.m.

SIRT is responsible for investigating all serious incidents involving police in Nova Scotia. Investigations are under the direction and control of independent civilian director Felix Cacchione, who is solely responsible for decisions respecting the laying of any charge.
