Report Released Regarding Charges Against Off Duty HRP Officer

The province's independent Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) has released its report in relation to charges of uttering threats, improper storage and possession of a firearm dangerous to the public peace against Cst. Jeff Leblanc, 35, an officer with the Halifax Regional Police (HRP). 

The charges stem from an incident that took place in early October in the Eastern Passage area. Cst. LeBlanc was off duty at the time.

This report is released in accordance with the Police Act which requires a report to be filed within three months of the conclusion of an investigation.

SIRT is responsible for investigating all serious incidents involving police in Nova Scotia. Investigations are under the direction and control of independent civilian interim director Pat Curran, who is solely responsible for decisions respecting the laying of any charge.
