SiRT Charges New Brunswick Officer with Voyeurism

The Director of the Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) has reasonable and probable grounds to believe that a former New Brunswick officer with the Edmundston Police Force committed criminal offences while off duty.
On August 29, 2024, a member of the public contacted SiRT regarding surreptitiously (secretly) recorded images and videos located on a computer belonging to a former police officer. The images and videos were taken while the officer was employed by the Edmundston Police Force.
On March 3, 2025, the former officer was charged with two counts of voyeurism contrary to s. 162 of the Criminal Code, one count of making child pornography, contrary to section 163.1(2) of the Criminal Code, and one count of possessing child pornography, contrary to section 163.1(4) of the Criminal Code.
They will appear before the Edmundston Provincial Court at 121 Rue de l’Église, Edmundston on March 11, 2025, at 1:30 pm.
The name of the former officer has been withheld to protect the identities of the victims.
As the matter is before the courts, and in consideration of the fair trial interests of the accused, SiRT will not provide further comment on the investigation.
SiRT is responsible for investigating all matters that involve death, serious injury, sexual assault and intimate partner violence or other matters of public interest that may have arisen from the actions of any police officer in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.
Investigations are under the direction and control of an independent civilian director, who has the sole authority to determine if charges should be laid at the conclusion of an investigation.
