The Director of the Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) found no reasonable grounds to believe a member of the RCMP acted with excessive force during an arrest near Sackville, New Brunswick.

On November 22, 2023, members of the RCMP’s Emergency Response Team executed a search warrant at a residence near Sackville that was known to have firearms and drugs. The male living at the home also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest, was known to law enforcement, and has a history of violence.

The male attempted to run away from police but was quickly apprehended. He resisted arrest and a struggle resulted in the male sustaining a dislocated elbow and associated fracture. RCMP reported the incident to SiRT the same day and an investigation was started.

The full summary report is available at: summary-of-investigation.pdf  .
