The Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) is investigating a matter involving a serious injury sustained by an adult male involved in a collision with an RCMP vehicle.

Preliminary information suggests the following:

  • Late in the evening of July 3, 2024, a member of the Woodstock RCMP was in a head-on collision with an ATV driven by an adult male on a rural road in Tobique Narrows, New Brunswick.
  • The ATV driver suffered a serious leg injury and was transported to hospital. The officer suffered minor injuries.

Due to the serious injury sustained by the male, the SiRT has assumed responsibility for this investigation.

The SiRT is responsible for investigating all matters that involve death, serious injury, sexual assault and intimate partner violence or other matters of a public interest to be investigated that may have arisen from the actions of any police officer in Nova Scotia or New Brunswick. Investigations are under the direction and control of an independent civilian director, who has the sole authority to determine if charges should be laid at the conclusion of an investigation.
