The Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) is investigating a matter involving a serious injury sustained by an adult male in a collision with an RCMP Vehicle, in Moncton New Brunswick.

Preliminary information suggests the following:

  •   On the morning of April 11, 2025, RCMP officers were responding to a possible impaired driving call.
  •   While responding to the call the RCMP vehicle was involved in a collision with an unrelated civilian vehicle on Upper Mountain Road and Mountain Creek.
  •   The male driving the vehicle sustained serious injuries and was transported to hospital.
  •   One RCMP officer was taken to hospital with what appeared to be minor injuries.

Due to the serious injury sustained by the male, SiRT has assumed responsibility for this investigation.

SiRT is responsible for investigating all matters that involve death, serious injury, sexual assault and intimate partner violence or other matters of a public interest to be investigated that may have arisen from the actions of any police officer in Nova Scotia or New Brunswick. Investigations are under the direction and control of an independent civilian director, who has the sole authority to determine if charges should be laid at the conclusion of an investigation.
